As virus cases surge, Chennai to be locked down from june 19
The Tamil Nadu government on Monday announced a complete lockdown for 12 days
beginning june 19 in Chennai and parts of three neighbouring districts to contain the covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday, who had refuted suggestions that a lockdown was on the anvil, said the move was based on advice from an expert committee of doctors.
However, learning lessons from the past, the government gave three days time for people to prepare themselves.
